Karimnagar Municipal Corporation held a general body meeting to discuss various issues such as sanitation, water supply, maintenance of street lights, drainage, and roads. The Mayor, Yadagiri Sunil Rao, chaired the meeting along with the presence of the Local Body Additional Collector and municipal commissioner, Prapul Desai. The problems faced by people with dogs and monkeys in the city were also brought up for discussion.
Mayor Sunil Rao stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister KCR, Minister Gangula Kamalakar, and Planning Commission Vice President Vinod Kumar, Karimnagar will be developed in all areas. Development works are already in progress across the city using funds from the Smart City initiative and various grants.
Special attention is being given to the development of merged village divisions. Drinking water supply in these divisions will be ensured with funds of Rs 147 crore. Additionally, development works related to funds of Rs 132 crore will begin in the next week.
To prepare for the upcoming Assembly elections, tenders for all development programs will be completed by the city administration. Birth control operations have been conducted for 2,870 dogs in the city, and around 3,000 monkeys have been caught and released in the forest area.
Preparations for festivals like Vinayaka Chavithi, Bathukamma, and Dussehra are already underway. The municipal corporation is taking early tenders and starting work to avoid inconvenience to the people at immersion points. There has also been significant improvement in the maintenance of street lights in the city.
Around 400 high mast lights have been installed so far, with another 120 set to be installed soon. The city’s island junctions have been beautified, and more junctions will be beautified as well. As part of the Harita Haram program, 3,970 saplings have been supplied to each division to distribute to every house in the city.
