Hyderabad: Union Minister G Kishan Reddy praised the invaluable role of security forces in ensuring the safety and security of the country.
On Thursday, Reddy, along with his wife G Kavya, celebrated Diwali with paramilitary personnel. They distributed sweets to the troops as part of the celebration.
Addressing the forces, Reddy said, “You are part of 140 crore Indians, and your day-and-night service ensures our safety and security, which is invaluable. I feel very happy to celebrate Diwali with you.”
Reddy recalled how, ten years ago, the country frequently faced terror attacks and bombings. He mentioned the tragic incident when IPS officer Krishna Prasad was shot by terrorists in Secunderabad, which is part of his parliamentary constituency. He also expressed sorrow over the thousands of security personnel who have been martyred in various terrorist incidents across the country, including those in the northeastern states.
The Union Minister highlighted past serious security threats, such as the attack on the Parliament building by terrorists inspired by Pakistan. Reddy assured that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the government is committed to protecting the nation from such dangers, with the help of the armed forces.
He further explained that peace is essential for development, as it encourages investment and industrial growth. Reddy added that Modi’s vision is to make India a developed nation by 2047.
“For this vision to be realised, it is essential to maintain a peaceful atmosphere across the nation. The role of the armed forces in this endeavour is crucial,” he concluded.
