The president of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), Mallikarjun Kharge, criticized the BRS party and KCR in a public meeting at Chevella. Kharge mentioned that without the support of the Congress party and Sonia Gandhi’s decision, Telangana would not have become a separate state. He also stated that KCR had promised to support the Congress after the division of Andhra Pradesh but did not keep his word. Kharge accused KCR of making false claims about being a secular person while secretly aligning with the BJP. He criticized KCR for remaining silent when 26 parties were trying to unite against the BJP-led government.
Kharge referred to the upcoming meeting in Khammam where Amit Shah would be speaking and mentioned some of the achievements of the Congress party since Independence. He later released the party’s 12-point declaration for SC/ST communities, which is significant as it comes just before the Telangana Assembly elections.
The declaration includes points such as 18% reservation for Scheduled Castes, assertive action towards SC classification, 12% reservation for Scheduled Tribes, financial assistance of Rs 12 lakhs per family for SCs and STs, reservation in state government contracts, reservations for SCs and STs in private schools and companies, land allocation for landless individuals, financial assistance of Rs 6 lakhs for house construction, ownership rights for assigned lands given to SCs, ownership rights for Podu lands given to STs, and development funds for Tribal thandas and SC/ST corporations.
