The Congress president, Mallikarjun Kharge, has accused the Narendra Modi government of being indifferent to the suffering of the people in Manipur. Kharge stated that when MPs from the opposition alliance INDIA visited Manipur to assess the situation, they heard heartbreaking stories of pain from the people there. He expressed concern about the deep divide between communities in the state.

Kharge criticized Modi for not addressing the anguish and suffering of the people in Manipur or working towards resolving inter-community issues. He pointed out that despite having time for political rallies, self-promotion train inaugurations, and attending BJP meetings, Modi seemed to overlook the plight of Manipur’s people. Kharge also criticized the government for not providing a comprehensive statement in Parliament regarding the Manipur situation, suggesting that they appear clueless and directionless in handling the issue.
