Police, the NRAI, and engineering officials visited six black spots on the Khammam to Wyra road to prevent accidents on Wednesday. The Commissioner of Police, Vishnu S Warrier, said that there are 68 black spots in the district. They analyzed factors causing fatal accidents and took preventive measures, such as setting up barricades, danger signs, boards, stoppers, signal lights, and blinking lights in the black spots.
However, despite the preventive measures taken, 250 road accidents occurred in four months this year, resulting in 78 deaths and 247 injuries. These incidents occurred due to over speeding, rash driving, and negligence. The District Road Safety Coordination Committee, consisting of officials from different government departments including police, identified factors causing accidents and took preventive measures based on the Integrated Road Accident Database (IRAD).
