K Chandrasekhar Rao, the chief of BRS party, believes that sentiment can help them in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He plans to turn the issue of sharing Krishna and Godavari water into a sentimental one to gain voter support. KCR is preparing for a bus yatra called ‘Neeti Poru Yatra’ along the Krishna and Godavari basin.
During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the party used the slogan ‘Caru Saru Padaharu’ (Sir-KCR, car-party’s election symbol, 16 seats and forming government in Delhi). Now, they want to connect with voters using the slogan ‘Mana Neelu’ (our water), which was popular during the Telangana agitation. The party is feeling positive after a recent public meeting in Nalgonda, and they believe the Neeti Poru Yatra will help build more momentum.
The party plans to appoint in-charges for the two basins and end the yatra with a public meeting in Hyderabad. The yatra in the Krishna basin will start from Nagarjunsagar, while the one along Godavari will begin from Kaleshwaram. BRS aims to raise awareness about the Congress party compromising the state’s interests regarding its water share from Krishna and Godavari.
