BRS Plans Yearlong Strategy to Strengthen Party
Hyderabad: BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) has announced a detailed yearlong plan to strengthen the party in preparation for upcoming local body elections.
At a key executive meeting, the party decided to hold a massive public meeting on April 27 to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Other plans include yearlong silver jubilee celebrations, protest programs, a campaign for Telangana’s share of Krishna river water, a membership drive, and preparations for possible by-elections in 10 Assembly constituencies. These constituencies may become vacant if the Supreme Court rules against BRS MLAs who switched to Congress.
KCR held a five-hour discussion with party leaders on strategies to strengthen the organization. The meeting focused on building the party’s various wings, increasing opposition to the government on public issues, and preparing for local body and by-elections.
Strengthening the Party
KCR reassured party members that the BRS remains strong despite concerns about its future. He reminded them that the party had successfully handled by-elections in the past, especially during the Telangana movement. He urged leaders to put aside differences and work at the grassroots level to strengthen the party.
To increase public support, KCR instructed party leaders to organize protests on major issues such as farmers’ suicides, student deaths in residential schools, suicides among auto drivers, weavers, and realtors, as well as power shortages, healthcare problems, and drinking water shortages. He blamed the state government for failing to address these issues and called for widespread protests.
Organizational Changes and Events
The party will finalize a venue for the April 27 public meeting within a week. In the second week of April, a special meeting with party delegates will focus on strengthening the women’s, students’, and minority wings. To keep party workers engaged, BRS will also conduct training camps for social media teams throughout the year.
Fight for Krishna River Water
BRS working president K T Rama Rao (KTR) raised concerns about Telangana being denied a fair share of Krishna river water. He criticized the Congress government for not pressuring the Centre to resolve the issue. KTR also accused Telangana’s Congress and BJP MPs of failing to bring funds from the Centre, while Andhra Pradesh MPs had secured significant financial support.
With this action plan, BRS aims to regain political strength and mobilize its supporters for the upcoming elections.
