Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao expressed his sadness at the passing of renowned agricultural scientist MS Swaminathan. He acknowledged Swaminathan’s significant contributions to India’s farming sector and his vision of achieving self-sufficiency in food grain production. Swaminathan played a crucial role in the Green Revolution, which led to increased food grain output in the country.
CM KCR fondly remembered Swaminathan’s appreciation of Telangana’s agricultural initiatives and their close association. He also mentioned their memorable interaction during Swaminathan’s visit to the Secretariat. The State government fulfilled Swaminathan’s vision of making Telangana a Seed Bowl of India by utilizing fertile lands.
Swaminathan was always keen on visiting Telangana to witness the agricultural development and the welfare of farmers. He expressed delight over the rapid progress in the farming sector during a recent meeting with State representatives. CM KCR acknowledged that filling the void left by Swaminathan would be challenging, as he was a guiding force for the country’s farming sector and its farmers. He extended his deepest condolences to Swaminathan’s family.
