Hyderabad: BRS MLC K Kavitha stated that the women’s reservation was not just her fight alone. She criticized both the BJP and Congress for failing on this issue. Kavitha addressed a press conference at her residence, responding to criticism about the number of seats in the BRS list. She mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, despite having strength in Parliament, has not brought the Bill. Kavitha emphasized that 14 lakh women could become public representatives because of reservations in local bodies, and this issue affects 70 crore women in the country.

Kavitha pointed out that except for Uttar Pradesh, where BJP is in power, reservations for women in local bodies have been implemented nationwide. She highlighted the lack of representation for women in both Congress and the current government, stating that there was only one women cabinet minister during Jawaharlal Nehru’s Congress government and only two women ministers under Modi.

Kavitha also criticized the Congress leader A Revanth Reddy for targeting her without questioning the BJP or Prime Minister Modi on the reservation issue. She announced her plan to hold a dharna (protest) at Jantar Mantar in Delhi during the next session, inviting Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Smriti Irani to join. Kavitha expressed concern over the LB Nagar issue and stated that the government would take measures to prevent such incidents from happening again.
