Hyderabad: BRS legislator Padi Kaushik Reddy on Wednesday challenged the BRS MLAs who joined the Congress to either resign or wear saris and bangles. His comments came after submitting court order copies to the Legislature Secretary at the Assembly.
Speaking at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Reddy urged the MLAs to step down before the Speaker makes a decision on their disqualification petition. He criticized the defectors, saying they should show courage and resign if they are brave enough to do politics.
“If you don’t resign before the Speaker’s decision, we will send saris and bangles to your house through courier,” he said, displaying the items during the press meet. He specifically named MLAs like Danam Nagender and Kadiyam Srihari, along with others who left the party, challenging them to act with integrity.
Reddy, along with fellow leader KP Vivekanand, met the Legislature Secretary and shared that the court had given a four-week time frame for action. If no decision is made on the disqualification petition within this period, the court will take up the case on its own initiative.
He also accused the defected MLAs of lacking shame, particularly singling out Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender for frequently switching parties. Reddy suggested that Nagender would soon become an “ex-MLA for life.” He also called Kadiyam Srihari a “cheat” for accepting favors from BRS Chief KCR in the morning and joining Congress by evening.
Reddy further mentioned that Serilingampally MLA Arikepudi Gandhi, who initially said he would join Congress, is now denying it, and he invited Gandhi to come to Telangana Bhavan for clarity.
Vivekanand, who joined Reddy at the press conference, accused Minister D Sridhar Babu of misleading the public by distorting High Court orders. He reminded everyone that disqualification petitions against ten MLAs are still pending with the Speaker. He also pointed out that the Supreme Court had previously ruled against delaying decisions on such petitions.
