    Karuna Gopal Vartakavi named Advisor for IIT Kanpur’s AI Center of Excellence focusing on Sustainable Cities

    Karuna Gopal Vartakavi, a BJP leader and President of Foundation for Futuristic Cities in Hyderabad, has been invited to serve as an Advisor for the Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Sustainable Cities at IIT Kanpur. This center is led by a Consortium of academic institutions like Indian Institute of Science (IISc), IIIT Delhi, IIIT Hyderabad, Princeton University (USA), and industry leaders like SAIL, Adani Total Gas Ltd., and think tanks like eGov Foundation and WRI India.

    The invitation letter praised Karuna Gopal’s expertise in urban transformation and stated that her participation in the consortia would enhance the capacity of real-life solutions for sustainable cities. Gopal has been recognized internationally for her work in futuristic development, with invitations from the Governments of 14 countries to enhance their Smart Development efforts.

    She also contributed to the INDIA TECHNOLOGY Roadmap 2047 and played a role in designing the ‘100 Smart Cities Mission’ of India. In the past, Gopal has served as an Urban Expert for The World Bank, DFID (Department for International Development, UK), USAID (United States Agency for International Development), and ADB (Asian Development Bank).
