BRS MLC K Kavitha, during a meeting of the Harida Writers Association in Nizamabad, spoke about the importance of writers using their tools for the welfare of society. She hopes that literature can be used to help society. She also emphasized the need to eliminate elements that prey on humanity.
During her speech, Kavitha mentioned how Dasaradhi and Vattikota Alvaruswamy were once imprisoned in Indore Jail during the Nizam period. Dasaradi wrote the words ‘Na Telangana Koti Ratanala Veena’ with charcoal on the wall of the jail, which served as an inspiration for the Telangana movement. Kavitha shared that she used Rs 40 lakhs from her MLC funds to develop the jail and install a statue of Dasarathi for Dasarathi Jayanti on July 22.
Kavitha also talked about the importance of reading books and how it can be like experiencing a life. She expressed her concern that if children are not encouraged to read, they may not develop the ability to see and respond to important issues. She also acknowledged that while movies can be thought-provoking, very few of them are like books in this regard.
Overall, Kavitha’s speech highlighted the role of writers in promoting social welfare and preserving important pieces of history.
