The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested K Kavitha, a member of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. She is currently in Tihar Jail until April 23 after being apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 15 at her Hyderabad residence.

Kavitha has claimed that her arrest is politically motivated and an attempt to target opposition parties. She stated that the CBI had already recorded her statement during her time in jail.

CBI officials interrogated Kavitha within the prison premises after obtaining permission from a special court. They focused on WhatsApp communications from her co-accused, Buchi Babu, and documents related to a land transaction linked to the liquor policy case.

On April 6, CBI personnel visited Tihar Jail to question Kavitha further about these specific aspects of the investigation. The ED has accused Kavitha of playing a key role in the “South Group,” which allegedly paid Rs 100 crore in kickbacks to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi in exchange for a large number of liquor licenses in the city.
