Hyderabad: Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao has questioned why no one protested when previous governments gave away the Kancha Gachibowli lands to private companies. He praised the current government for protecting the land and accused the BRS and BJP of misleading students and encouraging protests.

Speaking at a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, the Minister said that the State government had not taken any land from Hyderabad Central University (HCU). Instead, he claimed the government had saved 400 acres of land that might have been lost to private owners. He explained that the land, located in Survey Number 25 at Kancha Gachibowli, does not belong to the university.

According to the Minister, the land had been claimed by a private party through legal channels, and there was an ongoing court case. However, the government proved its ownership in court and won the case. He added that just because the land has trees doesn’t mean it is a forest, especially since the area has been vacant for 20 years.

The Minister also said there is a lot of confusion about the land and accused certain groups of spreading misinformation. He alleged that these groups are trying to create problems among students and the public for political gain.
