Nizamabad: District In-Charge Minister and State Excise and Tourism Minister, J Krishna Rao, highlighted that the government is taking steps to ensure farmers don’t suffer losses when selling their crops.
On Thursday, the minister, along with local MLAs, toured different areas of Nizamabad district. They visited paddy procurement centres in places like Mentrajpalli, Dichpalli Mandal, Perkit, Armur Mandal, and Thanakalan in Edapalli Mandal. The purpose of the visit was to check the paddy procurement process directly.
During the visit, Minister Krishna Rao inspected the facilities provided to farmers at these centres. He also personally checked the moisture levels of the paddy using a moisture meter. The minister engaged with farmers to understand any challenges they were facing and reviewed the records of paddy collected from them.
The minister instructed officials to immediately provide farmers with receipts after their paddy is procured. These receipts should include important details such as the support price, bonus, type of paddy, quantity collected, and total amount payable. He stressed that receipts should be issued before the paddy is transported to rice mills to avoid any deductions at the mills.
Minister Krishna Rao also shared that the government is offering a minimum support price of Rs 2,320 per quintal for A-grade paddy, along with an additional Rs 500 bonus for fine paddy.
He assured farmers that there is no need for any concerns about the process and directed officials to ensure quick weigh-ins at procurement centres to prevent delays. He also encouraged timely tab entries to facilitate faster bill payments.
The minister criticized the previous government for accumulating Rs 8 lakh crore in debt during its ten-year rule, comparing it with the Rs 60,000 crore debt incurred by Congress and TDP governments over 75 years.
He further mentioned that the current government, led by CM Revanth Reddy, is paying Rs 6,000 crore in interest every month. Despite this financial burden, the government is fulfilling promises such as providing free electricity, free bus travel for women, Rs 500 cooking gas, and waiving crop loans for farmers. He also reassured farmers that eligible individuals would benefit from the Rythu Bharosa scheme, and 3,500 houses would be built in each constituency under the Indiramma housing scheme.
