The Excise, Tourism, and Culture Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao has asked the irrigation department officials in Wanaparthy to ensure that farmers in the former Mahabubnagar district have enough water for their last harvest of the Kharif crop. This comes after receiving complaints from farmers about their crops drying up. The minister also visited the Ramanpadu project to check the water availability.
The left canal, which covers areas such as Jurala, Ramanapadu, Gopal Dinne, Amarachinta, Atmakur, Madanapuram Kothakota, Pebbair, Srirangapuram, Veepanagandla, and Chinnambavi mandals, is used for irrigation. The Bima lift irrigation scheme provides water to Kothakota, Srirangapuram, Veepanagandla, Chinnambavi, and Pentlavelli mandals. However, due to heavy rainfall, there is a shortage of water in the project. Despite this, the farmers are requesting water until the last rain.
Farmers are pleased with the minister’s positive response to their concerns. The minister was accompanied by SE Satyasheela Reddy and local public representatives during his visit.
