Junior Panchayat secretaries (JPSs) in Warangal have been on strike since April 28, demanding the regularisation of their services. However, Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Errabelli Dayakar Rao has urged them to withdraw their strike and resume their duties immediately. In a statement released on Thursday, the minister reminded the JPSs that they should not affiliate with any service union, organization, or association as per the terms and conditions of their contract. He also stated that they cannot claim any right to regular appointment.

Errabelli Dayakar Rao emphasized that the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao holds a positive opinion of the JPSs and called on them to return to their offices. He stated that the JPSs cannot dictate terms to the government and ruled out the possibility of holding talks with the striking employees. While the JPSs had spoken to him on the phone and expressed their problems, he had not assured them of holding parleys with the government.
