    Junior doctors in Hyderabad have decided to postpone their planned strike after the Director of Medical Education (DME) promised to address their concerns within 20 days. The doctors had threatened to strike on May 3 if their demands were not met. According to Dr P Kaushik Kumar, the president of the Junior Doctors’ Association, the DME has promised to issue revised posting orders to allocate post-graduates to area hospitals near parent hospitals for the first batch. The DME has also committed to only assigning post-graduates to peripheral district hospitals after arranging basic facilities such as accommodation and food, in accordance with NMC norms. In regards to stipend, the DME has confirmed that the file is with the finance department and that a 15% stipend hike will be released within 20 days. Pending stipends will be cleared within a week, and monthly stipends will be paid on time.
