Prahallad Purty, the vice president of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s Odisha unit, has resigned from the party. He cited differences with the party’s State leadership as the reason for his resignation. Purty claimed that he was verbally asked to quit by Anjani Soren, the president of JMM’s Odisha unit and daughter of Shibu Soren. He stated that he had been questioning the party’s inaction on Odisha-related issues for the past eight months and felt sidelined within the party. Purty, who had been associated with the party since the Jharkhand movement, said he had no choice but to resign.
