Jishnu Dev Varma Sworn In as Telangana Governor
Hyderabad: Former Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, Jishnu Dev Varma, was sworn in as the new Governor of Telangana on Wednesday. The ceremony took place at Raj Bhavan.
Telangana High Court Chief Justice, Alok Aradhe, administered the oath of office to Varma. The event was marked by the reading of the Warrant of Appointment by Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, which was issued by President Droupadi Murmu.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, along with other dignitaries, greeted the new Governor with bouquets. Among the attendees were Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, several Cabinet ministers, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, and various MLAs and senior leaders from different political parties.
Earlier in the day, Jishnu Dev Varma arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport with his family. He received a warm welcome from the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, and other state officials.
In his speech, Varma expressed gratitude to the President and the Prime Minister for his appointment. He highlighted that his appointment is a significant recognition for the people of Tripura, as it is the first time since Independence that someone from his home state has been elevated to this position.
