Senior Congress leader and AICC General Secretary, Jairam Ramesh, has rejected the ruling BRS’ claim of making Telangana a rich state. He questioned why there are daily suicides among the unemployed if the state is so wealthy.
Ramesh stated that the victory of Congress in Telangana this time is a fact. He mentioned that confidence in the party has increased after Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo’ yatra, and those who left the party earlier are returning. He also highlighted that the six guarantees announced by Rahul Gandhi are being well-received by the people.
The politician pointed out that sentiment does not always determine election outcomes. He criticized the notion that development in Telangana only benefits the ruling family members. Ramesh expressed concern about the high unemployment rate in Telangana, with one person committing suicide every day due to lack of employment opportunities.
Ramesh emphasized that the brand Hyderabad was built by Congress governments since Jalagam Vengalarao’s reign, not solely by KCR and KTR. He accused BRS of misleading the public by focusing on per capita income statistics.
He questioned the number of Grade-1 recruitments made in the past nine years. Ramesh made it clear that Telangana would not exist without the ideas, initiative, and cooperation of Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh. He reminded everyone that KCR was once a part of the UPA government.
Ramesh mentioned a shift in the party after Congress’s victory in Karnataka. He noted that while initially, it seemed like a competition between BRS and BJP, in the last few months, BJP has faded away. He claimed that many BJP leaders are now joining Congress, indicating a change in political sentiment.
He acknowledged that they took a risk by supporting the formation of Telangana, even though they knew they wouldn’t benefit from it. Ramesh stated that not all decisions made by political parties are purely political. He criticized BRS for being “BTM” for BJP and MIM and accused Asaduddin Owaisi of only looking after his own future.
Ramesh claimed that Owaisi’s future lies in splitting votes, as seen in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, UP, and now Telangana. He described MIM as having three faces in Telangana.
