Jagan strongly supports four percent Muslim reservations, accuses Chandrababu of betrayal

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that his government will continue the 4% reservation for Muslims in the state during an election rally in Nellore district. He also pledged support for minority issues like reservations, NRC, CAA, and other concerns.

Jagan clarified that the reservation for Muslims is for socially and economically backward classes within the community, excluding upper castes like Pathan, Syed, and Moghal from the BC-E list. He argued that reservations are based on backwardness as permitted by the Constitution, questioning the ethics of politicizing them.

The CM highlighted that the YSRCP not only supports the 4% reservation for minorities but also provides political representation to them, with Muslim members holding various positions in the government. He emphasized the full utilization of the budget allocated for minority welfare through a Minorities Sub-Plan.

Jagan criticized TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu for aligning with the BJP, which opposes Muslim reservations while seeking minority votes. He accused Naidu of betraying the Muslim community with his contradictory actions.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining the 4% reservation for Muslims and challenged Naidu to confront Modi about it and reconsider his alliance with the NDA if he truly cares about Muslim welfare.
