The vice-chancellor of Shri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University, Dr B. Neeraja Prabhakar, has stated that Israel has achieved the highest productivity and quality in horticulture crops by using modern methods with limited water resources and land. Agricultural officials, representatives, and scientists from various districts in Telangana are visiting Israel under the guidance of Telangana State Agriculture Commissioner Hanumantha Rao for a three-day trip.
Dr. Prabhakar mentioned that vegetables grown in greenhouses in Israel through protected cultivation are of excellent quality and productivity. The State government has provided significant subsidies to farmers to encourage greenhouse cultivation and increase their profits. Workshops will be conducted for farmers in Telangana to learn about Israeli-style vegetable cultivation. During the visit, Dr. Prabhakar inspected avocado and grape plantations in southern Israel, as well as pomegranate plantations in northern Israel. She also learned about the mechanization techniques used for cultivating various vegetables and horticultural crops in Israel. The vice-chancellor emphasized that they collected valuable experiences and scientific techniques used by Israeli farmers to produce high-quality eggplants and lemons.
