    Four women have come out on top in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2022. Ishita Kishore is the first-place winner, followed by Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi, and Smriti Mishra. The UPSC recommended 933 candidates, including 320 women and 613 men, for appointment to various services. The top four positions were claimed by women candidates.

    Out of the top 25 candidates, 14 are women and 11 are men with diverse educational backgrounds like engineering, humanities, science, commerce, and medical science. Among the recommended candidates, 41 had benchmark disabilities like orthopedic handicaps, visual challenges, hearing impairments, and multiple disabilities.

    Ishita Kishore, the first-place winner, is an economics graduate from the prestigious Shri Ram College of Commerce at Delhi University. She worked for Ernst & Young’s risk advisory department after her studies. Ishita has also actively participated in various sports activities.

    Garima Lohia, the second-place winner, graduated in Commerce from Kirorimal College, University of Delhi. Commerce and Accountancy were her optional subjects.

    Uma Harathi N, the third-place winner, has a B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering from IIT in Hyderabad. Anthropology was her optional subject.

    Smriti Mishra, the fourth-place winner, has a BSc degree from Miranda House College, University of Delhi. Zoology was her optional subject.

    The UPSC Civil Services Examination is conducted annually in three stages – prelims, main and interview (personality test) – to select officers for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and other posts.
