The Telangana government will celebrate “Irrigation Water Day” and hold meetings in each constituency to explain the progress made in the irrigation sector. The State Irrigation Department will hold a meeting on the achievements of the Telangana irrigation sector at Rabindra Bharti, which CM KCR will attend.
The Telangana Rashtra Avatarna Dashabdi Utsavalu is a 21-day festival from June 2nd, 2023, organized by the Government of Telangana to celebrate the tenth year after completing nine years of the formation of Telangana State. The festival will include plays, poetry recitals, cinema, performances by folk artists, music, dance, folklore, and cultural events.
CM KCR will highlight how the state has transformed the irrigation sector and helped farmers turn agriculture into a profitable profession. He will refer to projects like the Sriramsagar project and explain how Godavari water is reaching Kakatiya canal tail end lands, government ongoing works on various projects on Krishna river, and how Kaleswaram has provided abundant water for agriculture in drought areas.
In Palamuru district, 4 projects have been made available, irrigating more than 8 lakh acres of land. The percentage of cultivated area increased in Telangana in 9 years was 117%, and the average groundwater level rose by 4.14 meters.
The Telangana government spent Rs.1.69 lakh crores on projects between 2014 to 2023, compared to only Rs.38,405.2 crores spent by the erstwhile government on Telangana projects from 2004 to 2014. The pending projects completed by the Telangana government in seven years are Kalvakurthi, Rajeev Bhima, Nettempadu, Koilsagar, Mid Manair, Singuru Canals, Ellampalli, Kinnerasani, Palemvagu, Kumrabhimmattadi Vagu, Neelvai, and Jagannathpur.
