Violence has been reported during the ongoing elections in Andhra Pradesh, with clashes between supporters of different political parties. Many people have been injured in these incidents.
Incidents of violence have been reported between workers of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in various areas. These include allegations of kidnapping, attacks on convoys, damaging Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), and other confrontations. Police had to use mild force to control the violent mobs.
Tension escalated in Tadipatri and Rajampet due to clashes between YSRCP and TDP workers. In Annamaya district, Jana Sena Party reported the abduction of one of their agents. The TDP also filed a complaint about the kidnapping of three agents in Pileru, Chittoor district.
In Mylavaram constituency, approximately 150 people stormed a polling booth, causing chaos. Similar minor clashes were reported in various other constituencies across the state.
One incident involved YSRCP MLA Sivakumar allegedly attacking a voter in Tenali for objecting to the MLA bypassing the queue. The MLA’s followers then reportedly assaulted the voter.
In Dondapadu, stones were thrown at the convoy of TDP candidate L Srikrishna Devarayalu by some miscreants. TDP leaders blamed the YSRCP for orchestrating the attack.
Violence also erupted in Tadipatri and Dhone constituencies, with accusations flying between TDP and YSRCP workers. Independent candidate PN Babu was attacked in Dhone, leading to damage to his car.
