The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has taken steps to ensure transparency in the upcoming Intermediate Public Examinations. To monitor the ongoing practical exams and maintain fairness, the Board has started installing Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in examination centers. Additionally, a command control room has been set up to oversee the entire examination process.
The installation of CCTV cameras is being carried out in phases. In the first phase, cameras have been installed in about 850 examination centers, and trial monitoring of practical exams has begun. This decision was made after it was found that some private colleges were not following the set guidelines for conducting practical exams, resulting in inflated student scores. The initiative aims to ensure that students complete their exams fairly and independently.
The command control room is being used to monitor the exams in real time. Around 40 junior government college staff members are overseeing the process by watching live footage from the installed cameras. Some private colleges faced issues in integrating the cameras, so the Board stepped in to install them. Out of 2,000 examination centers, 850 have been covered in the first phase. By the end of the month, cameras will be installed in all exam centers before the theory exams begin.
A senior TGBIE officer stated that in the past, there was no way to know how practical exams were being conducted due to a lack of transparency. With this initiative, the Board aims to ensure that all exams are conducted fairly and according to the rules.
