The Congress party in Telangana is set to appoint six more ministers to its cabinet. Fifteen people are in the running for these positions, including those who lost in the recent elections and those who did not compete at all.
The candidates for ministerial positions include Shabbir Ali, Vivek, Malreddy Ranga Reddy, Anjankumar Yadav, Sudarshan Reddy, Madhuyashki, Addanki Dayakar, and Balunayak. However, the party is considering factors such as district integration, regional representation, and social groups while making these appointments.
Priority for cabinet positions is being given to districts like Khammam, Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar, Karimnagar, Warangal, and Medak. On the other hand, no one from Nizamabad, Adilabad, Ranga Reddy, and Hyderabad districts has been selected. The party aims to prioritize these districts in the future. As a result, leaders from these districts have begun lobbying for ministerial positions.
Efforts have started by individuals like the Gaddam brothers from Adilabad, Vivek from Chennuru, and Vinodkumar from Bellampally. Vinodkumar is reportedly seeking a ministerial post with the support of elders in Delhi. Shabbir Ali is focusing on securing the minority quota, while Sudarshan Reddy and Madanmohan are also making efforts.
Malreddy Rangareddy is likely to receive a ministerial position from the joint Rangareddy district. Feroze Khan might also get a cabinet berth in Greater Hyderabad despite the Congress not winning in the minority quota. The competition between Shabbir Ali and Feroze Khan for this position is of interest.
Other names being considered for ministerial positions include Mainampally Hanmantha Rao, Madhuyashki, and Anjankumar Yadav. If an ST community representative is to be appointed, MLA Balunaik of Devarakonda is a strong candidate. All candidates are currently focused on impressing the party leadership as the cabinet expansion is expected in a week.
