District Collector Muzammil Khan visited Chimalapadu village in Singareni Mandal on Tuesday. He spoke with farmers about dragon fruit and oil palm cultivation, as well as issues related to irrigation and electricity.
During his visit, he inspected an oil palm crop belonging to a farmer named Venkateswarlu and a dragon fruit farm owned by Srinivasa Rao. He advised farmers to install solar fencing to protect their crops from monkeys. He also directed the Agriculture Officer to help farmers sell dragon fruit directly to retailers like More and D-Mart.
Regarding electricity concerns, the Collector assured farmers that solar panels for motors would be provided under a subsidy scheme in different phases. He also instructed officials to improve soil testing and ensure transformers are repaired on time to avoid irrigation problems.
Farmers also complained about poor road conditions. In response, the Collector asked officials to take action under the Employment Guarantee Scheme while ensuring they follow forest regulations.
