Industrialist V. Chandrashekar Janardhan Rao’s grandson was arrested for fatally stabbing him more than 70 times with a kitchen knife. The attack reportedly happened due to a property dispute. The accused, Keerthi Teja, attacked his 86-year-old grandfather at their home in Panjagutta on Thursday night before fleeing.
Police stated that Teja was unhappy about being left out of family matters and inheritance decisions. He claimed that his cousins and siblings were treated well while he was ignored. Teja also said that he did not receive the respect he deserved in the family business and demanded his share of the wealth.
Teja had returned to India in 2018 after completing his Master’s degree in the United States. His grandfather, Chandrashekar, was the Chairman and Managing Director of Veljan Group of Companies. He lived with his family, including Teja’s mother and his daughter, Sarojini Devi.
After an intense search, police arrested Teja on Saturday in Somajiguda based on a tip-off. Further investigation is ongoing.
