The Indian men’s recurve team won a silver medal at the Archery World Cup Stage 1 after losing to China in a shoot-off. The team, consisting of Tarundeep Rai, Atanu Das, and Dhiraj Bommadevara, came back from a 0-4 deficit to level the scores, but lost in a dramatic finish. In the individual recurve section, Dhiraj won a bronze medal in his World Cup debut. However, he missed out on a silver medal after losing to Dan Olaru of Moldova in the semifinal. India won two gold, one silver, and one bronze medal from the event.
During the competition, China won by six points in the second set, where India hit the red rings three times. India had a slow start and lost the first set by one point. However, they won the third and fourth sets, with five 10s, including three Xs. It was almost a gold medal for India, but they have not won one since 2010 in Shanghai. The Indian men’s recurve team had tasted its first success in a World Cup in Antalya back in 2008.
