A delegation of INDIA bloc MPs is set to visit Manipur to assess the situation in the violence-hit state. They will then make recommendations to the government and Parliament for a solution. The delegation includes members from various opposition parties such as Congress, TMC, JMM, DMK, NCP, RLD, RJD, RSP, and VCK.
Ahead of the visit, Congress’ Gaurav Gogoi called for an inquiry into the violence in Manipur, suggesting that a retired Supreme Court judge should lead it. Gogoi expressed concerns about the BJP’s portrayal of the situation in Manipur, stating that violence is still ongoing and an investigation is needed to understand the failures of the state government.
Trinamool Congress’ Sushmita Dev emphasized that the opposition delegation wants to show solidarity with the people of Manipur. They believe that the government has failed in bringing peace to the state and aim to find a solution by visiting and assessing the situation on the ground.
Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader T R Baalu mentioned that the delegation will depart for Manipur on Saturday morning. Their objective is to investigate what went wrong, the extent of damage, and the loss of lives and property.
Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) leader Premchandran explained that the purpose of the visit is to gather firsthand information about the events unfolding in the state.
