    Lakshmi Barrage Receives 7th Inflow of Water

    Machinery Prepared for Rising Water Levels

    Hyderabad, July 1 (Namaste Telangana): Despite the widespread rainfall in the country, the Godavari River remains dry at one point in its entirety. While the Srisailam, Ellampalli, and Parvathi Sagar barrages in the state have not yet received water from the upper stream, the Lakshmi Barrage (Medigadda) began receiving water as soon as it was completed.

    Within two days, a total of 6,500 cubic feet per second (cusecs) of water has flowed into the Lakshmi Barrage. On Saturday evening, the flow increased to 7,400 cusecs. Officials have announced that in the coming days, the flow is expected to increase further, with possibilities of reaching a maximum of 76,000 cusecs. This development has taken place near Ambatipalli in Mahadevpur Mandal, Jayashankar Bhupalpalli district, where a canal with a capacity of 16.17 TMC feet has been constructed on the Godavari River. Currently, the flow stands at 0.5 TMC feet, compared to the previous 3.5 TMC feet.

    Officials have stated that in the coming days, the canal can be filled to its full capacity. As per Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s directives, water is being diverted from Rajarajeshwara Reservoir to Annapurna and Ranganayaka Sagar. The rise in water levels at the Lakshmi Barrage has led to the successful implementation of this water diversion plan.
