Several citizens have raised concerns over land encroachments in old layouts, alleging that parks, roads, and public spaces are being illegally occupied. During the HYDRAA Prajavani public hearing on Monday, 49 complaints were received, mostly related to layout violations in the outskirts of Hyderabad.
Encroachments on Old Layouts
Residents complained that layouts approved between 1980 and 1990 are now being erased or modified, with landowners illegally taking control of entire plots, including public spaces meant for roads and parks. Many complainants expressed frustration that:
- Land they purchased decades ago has been illegally occupied.
- Some original landowners who previously sold the plots are now trying to reclaim and encroach upon them.
- Panchayat-approved layouts are being converted back into agricultural land for personal use.
HYDRAA Steps In to Investigate
In response, HYDRAA officials analyzed Google Maps and Survey of India records in the presence of complainants to verify claims. The Commissioner has ordered a thorough investigation into each case and assured strict action against illegal encroachments.
Public Spaces Will Be Protected
HYDRAA Commissioner reassured the public that all lands designated for public use will be protected, and encroachments will not be tolerated. Complainants welcomed the immediate action, expressing relief at the governments commitment to resolving the issue.
