The contract agency L&T and the State Government are in a dispute over the Medigadda barrage. A report from a team of civil engineering faculty from IIT Roorkee found faults in the design and operation of the structure, leading to damage last year. L&T stated that it is not responsible for repairs since the government now owns the barrage.
The company emphasized that the construction was done with quality materials, and the issues were due to design flaws and lack of maintenance by the government. L&T provided clarifications and evidence to the government regarding repairs, citing conditions agreed upon during the construction agreement.
Irrigation officials mentioned that reports from the National Dam Safety Authority will be considered before determining the cause of the damage to the barrage. The company plans to submit a second report to the government soon for further clarification.
