IIIT Hyderabad has introduced a new programme in Geospatial Technology as part of its dual degree offerings starting from the 2024-25 academic year. This programme combines a B.Tech (Hons) in Computer Science with a Master of Science in domain areas through research.

Students can apply for admission to the CGD programme through IIIT-H’s Undergraduate Entrance Examination (UGEE). Eligible applicants must have passed the 12th class or equivalent with Maths, Physics, and Chemistry by June 2024. Those who have already registered for UGEE can choose to include this program in their final selections later on.

The CGD programme aims to equip students with the expertise needed to lead the geospatial industry, solve complex problems across various disciplines using computing and geospatial knowledge, and develop advanced technologies in these intersecting areas. This initiative is in line with the National Geospatial Policy (NGP) 2022, which recognizes the growth and importance of geospatial science and technology, emphasizing the need for research and technical manpower at the university level.
