Special Prayers for Rain Held at Shiva Anjaneya Temple in Ieeja Municipality
In the 12th ward of Ieeja Municipality, Jogulamba Gadwal district, special prayers were conducted on Saturday at the Sri Shiva Anjaneya Temple. These prayers were held to seek the blessings of the Rain God. After the prayers, the deity was honored with an abhishekam, a ritual bath.
For the past 50 years, these special prayers and the abhishekam have been organized every Saturday during the month of Shravan. Alongside the rituals, an Annadanam, which is a food donation program, is also conducted. The temple committee members mentioned that the support of donors makes it possible to carry out these rituals each year.
The committee members also spoke about the strong belief among devotees that visiting the ancient Shiva Anjaneya Temple brings spiritual merit. This temple is located at the old police station in Ieeja. The annual prayers for the Rain God are performed with the hope that the rain will help the farmers’ crops and bring prosperity and peace to the people.
The committee encouraged everyone to participate in the Annadanam program and receive the blessings of the deity.
Several devotees participated in the event, including Kurva Jayanna, Gandla Karabasayya, Bayakatti Shekhar, Bayikada Savaranna, Venkatesh, Suresh, and others from the 12th ward.
