HYDRAA Demolishes Illegal Wall Blocking Dalit Colony in Devarayamjal

Hyderabad, February 19 – Residents of a Dalit Colony in Devarayamjal can now access their homes freely after HYDRAA officials demolished an illegally constructed wall that had blocked their entry since 1985.

The wall, built by Tirumala Ventures, had cut off access to existing roads, making daily life difficult for the residents. Despite repeated complaints to officials, no action was taken for decades. However, on February 17, residents filed a complaint with HYDRAA Prajavani, prompting Commissioner A.V. Ranganath to order the immediate removal of the illegal structure.

Decades of Hardship Finally Ends

The blockade had caused severe challenges for the colony’s residents. Ambulances and fire engines were unable to reach the area, forcing people to use two-wheelers or even carry patients manually in emergencies. Pregnant women and critically ill individuals suffered the most due to the lack of proper access to medical facilities.

With the wall now dismantled, residents celebrated their victory after a 39-year-long struggle. “After 39 years, we finally have the right to access our own homes,” said a relieved resident.

The action by HYDRAA has been widely appreciated, bringing long-overdue justice to the people of Devarayamjal.
