Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted the importance of following Supreme Court guidelines regarding lands covered under GO111. He mentioned that any modifications on these lands should strictly adhere to the court’s directives. The Supreme Court has granted some relaxations for buildings like the Secretariat and GHMC, but no changes can be made outside these guidelines.
In Hyderabad, the Chief Minister dismissed accusations of political vendetta in the ongoing removal of encroachments from Full Tank Level (FTL) areas, buffer zones of lakes, nalas, and other water bodies. He emphasized that the HYDRA task force is currently focused on Hyderabad and will not spare any illegal encroachments, whether they are in the new city or the Old City, and regardless of who owns the properties.
Revanth Reddy mentioned that the demolition drive began with the residence of Pallam Raju, a Congress party member. He pointed out that the opposition tends to overlook this fact. Addressing allegations made by BRS leader K T Rama Rao, Reddy stated that if the BRS can provide documents proving illegal constructions in the FTL zone, he would personally ensure their demolition. He clarified that owning land near lakes is different from having illegal constructions.
During an informal interaction with the media, the Chief Minister discussed several issues. He noted that many prominent individuals have built educational institutions in restricted zones. However, the government will allow schools to complete the academic year before taking action to avoid disrupting students’ education. Regarding the Janwada farmhouse controversy, Reddy recalled that in 2020, he provided evidence of its illegal status, and BRS leader K T Rama Rao promised to demolish it. The Chief Minister also clarified that a Sarpanch does not have the authority to grant construction permissions.
Revanth Reddy stressed that it is the responsibility of land buyers to ensure that their property is not in an FTL or buffer zone. He also revealed that investigations are underway against officials who permitted illegal constructions in these restricted areas.
When asked about the GO111, he reiterated that any decisions on these lands must align with Supreme Court guidelines, which have allowed some exceptions like the Secretariat and GHMC buildings.
On a different note, Reddy commented on Kavitha’s release from jail. He stated that while they do not oppose the bail, it’s important to note that AAP leader Manish Sisodia spent 16 months in jail before getting bail, while Arvind Kejriwal couldn’t secure it. He suggested that Kavitha’s bail was facilitated by a secret arrangement with the BJP, pointing out that Harish Rao’s cooperation with the BJP during Lok Sabha polls led to their winning eight seats, which he believes is connected to the bail.
Finally, the Chief Minister addressed BRS’s criticism of loan waivers, stating that the protests were initiated by BRS leaders rather than farmers.
