Hyderabad – The Hydra Prajavani public hearing, held on Monday, received a total of 64 complaints, with a major focus on illegal road closures, blocked drains, and floodwater stagnation in various colonies.
Residents raised concerns about some colonies constructing walls around their areas, which has led to blocked drainage systems and floodwater accumulation during heavy rains. Many residents expressed frustration over these unauthorized structures, which have been causing severe inconvenience to the public.
Commissioner AV Ranganath Orders Immediate Action
Hyderabad Commissioner AV Ranganath directed Hydra officials to prioritize the removal of illegal barriers and structures that are restricting public movement. He emphasized:
- Officials must verify permits for colony fences and immediately remove unauthorized constructions.
- All roads should remain accessible to the public, ensuring no inconvenience to citizens.
- Complaints should be thoroughly examined using Google Maps, and officials should engage directly with affected residents for on-the-ground verification.
- Complainants will be introduced to relevant authorities, ensuring proper follow-ups on their grievances.
Strong Stand Against Road Blockages
The Hyderabad Police and Civic Authorities have been taking strict measures against illegal road closures in residential areas. With an increase in public complaints, authorities have reiterated that no colony can restrict access to public roads in the name of security or exclusivity.
Residents have welcomed the Commissioner’s proactive stance, hoping for swift action to resolve their long-standing issues.
