HYDRA Commissioner Inspects Lake Restoration Work in Hyderabad
Hyderabad Disaster Response, Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRA) Commissioner and Lake Protection Committee Chairman, AV Ranganath, visited several lakes in the city to check on their restoration and beautification progress.
On Friday, he inspected six lakes: Sunnam Cheruvu, Tammidikunta Cheruvu, Kukatpally Nalla Cheruvu, Uppal Nalla Cheruvu, Bum-Rukh-Ud-Daula Lake, and Bathukamma Kunta. These lakes are part of HYDRA’s first phase of restoration, with a total budget of ₹58.50 crore.
During his visit, Ranganath assured affected residents that the state government would support those who lost their homes or land in buffer zones through the Transfer of Development Rights (TDP) scheme. He urged the public to cooperate with the ongoing restoration efforts, emphasizing that the government is committed to improving and beautifying the lakes.
He also reassured residents that existing homes would not be disturbed by the restoration work. Currently, HYDRA is carrying out a de-watering process, where wastewater is being pumped out and dried as part of the restoration. The agency aims to complete the first phase of work by June.
Additionally, Commissioner Ranganath reviewed the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and design concepts prepared by Vimos Technocrats to assess the progress and planning of the restoration project.
