Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) commissioner, A V Ranganath, visited Bathukamma Kunta in Amberpet on Wednesday. His visit addressed concerns about alleged encroachments around the historic lake.
During the visit, Commissioner Ranganath spoke with local residents. Many were worried their homes might be demolished due to the restoration project. However, Ranganath reassured them that no residential areas or homes would be affected.
Ranganath also explained that the restoration of Bathukamma Kunta would be finished within two months. The work will focus on the existing 5.15-acre area of the lake. He made it clear that the project would not encroach on any residential spaces. Additionally, HYDRAA will remove trees that have grown around the lake.
The goal of the project is to restore Bathukamma Kunta while ensuring the safety and rights of the residents. The administration is making an effort to engage with the community by holding discussions with locals and maintaining peace through police presence.
In a separate development, HYDRAA also took action by demolishing encroachments built by Nagaram Municipal Chairman Chandrareddy on a 40-foot-wide road in East Hanuman Nagar in the Keesara mandal.
