Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KTR inaugurated a new steel bridge at Indira park on Saturday. The bridge, which is 2.25 km long and has four lanes, is named after former minister Naini Narsimha Reddy. It was built at a cost of Rs. 450 crore.
Minister KTR mentioned that the steel bridge is expected to address traffic issues in the area and alleviate congestion problems. This bridge is part of the Strategic Road Development Program (SRDP) and marks the 36th project in the program. The minister also expressed a commitment to further development programs in Hyderabad to improve the city’s overall development.
The availability of this new bridge is expected to improve traffic flow at VST Junction, RTC Cross Roads, and Indira Park Cross Road. The road connected by the steel bridge sees heavy traffic with about one lakh vehicles using it daily. Previously, it took around 30 to 40 minutes for vehicles to travel from Telugu Thalli flyover to destinations like OU and Nallakunta due to traffic and multiple junctions.
However, with the new steel bridge, the travel time from Lower Tank Bund to VST is reduced to just 5 minutes, saving commuters 25 minutes on a half-hour journey. Motorists are pleased with this development. The family of former minister Naini Narsimha Reddy also expressed their gratitude to the government for naming the bridge after him.
