A new Drone Port will be built in Hyderabad soon. The State government is also planning to establish airports in Kothagudem and Bhadrachalam areas and renovate the Warangal airport.
On Wednesday, the Telangana State Aviation Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ISRO’s National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) to provide advanced training for drone pilots.
The CEO of Telangana Aviation Academy and the Director of NRSC signed the agreement in the presence of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and ISRO Chairman S Somanath. Other officials were also present.
Under the agreement, training will be provided on drone piloting, drone data management, and data analysis. NRSC scientists and drone pilots will undergo a 15-day training course on data analysis, data processing, and mapping at the academy.
The Aviation Academy officials requested land allocation from the Chief Minister to develop a dedicated training facility for drone pilots in Hyderabad. They also mentioned the inconvenience caused by increasing air traffic at Hyderabad airport. In response, the Chief Minister instructed officials to identify 20 acres of land for the establishment of a Drone Port at Pharma City.
Revanth Reddy also ordered officials to renovate Warangal airport and explore the possibility of launching commercial operations from there. They were also asked to consult the airport authority regarding the establishment of an airport in Kothagudem and Bhadrachalam areas.
