The Hyderabad Water Board is taking strict action against illegal water and sewage connections in the city. Recently, it filed criminal cases against seven individuals in Shamshabad for unauthorized Nalla (drainage) connections. This move is part of the Water Board’s ongoing efforts to curb unlawful water usage in Hyderabad.
Illegal Nalla Connections in Shamshabad
Residents from areas like Kummari Basti, Yadav Basti, and Cuppagadda in Shamshabad were found to have connected their homes to the city’s drainage system without proper authorization. During inspections, officials discovered that individuals, including Anjaiah, Mahaboobi, Balaraju, Bhaskar, Krishna, Kumar, and Ravi, each had two illegal Nalla connections.
The Water Board officials confirmed that these residents lacked the required permits for the connections. Following this, criminal cases were filed at the Airport Police Station, and motors used to enable the illegal water connections were confiscated by authorities.
Water Board's Strict Warning
The Hyderabad Water Board has issued a strong warning against unauthorized water and sewage connections. It has made it clear that those caught tapping into pipelines without permission will face legal consequences. These illegal connections not only break the law but also pose a serious risk to public health and the city’s water infrastructure.
Ashok Reddy, Managing Director of Jalamandali, highlighted the importance of protecting the city’s water systems. He stated, “The city’s water resources and infrastructure are compromised by illegal water usage.” The Board remains committed to ensuring that only approved connections exist.
Continuing the Crackdown
The Water Board’s crackdown on illegal Nalla connections is ongoing across Hyderabad. Protecting the integrity of the city’s water and sewage systems is a top priority, as they are crucial for public health. By taking proactive steps, the Board aims to safeguard water resources and prevent the misuse of public utilities.
This firm stance is expected to deter illegal activities and encourage compliance with water management regulations in Hyderabad.
