In the city, pedestrians can simply cross the street using pelican signals. Authorities advise using the facilities provided for pedestrians to cross the road in order to prevent accidents. Recently, Tankbund began receiving signals from City Police Commissioner CV Anand. With this, there are 30 Pelican signals available throughout the city, and in the Rachakonda and Cyberabad Commissionerate, there will be an additional 47. A few of these are currently accessible in Cyberabad. These signals are being installed at 77 locations within the Tri Police Commissionerates as part of the Safe City Project Rs. at a cost of 8.5 crores. The majority of fatalities in car accidents are pedestrians.

52 pedestrians lost their lives in traffic accidents this year. To employ the pelican signals that have been available in Hyderabad, a system of volunteers has been set up. Between the hours of 9 am and 12 noon and 5 pm and 8 pm, these volunteers are on duty at the signals. Currently, up to 50 volunteers are employed.

    It is to Avoid Accidents…

The footover bridges built across the city specifically for pedestrians are not being used by people. Wherever they fall, pedestrians and drivers alike are having trouble crossing the street. Pelican signals have been installed in this situation to ensure a safe atmosphere for pedestrians. Pelican signals last about 15 seconds, three minutes at least apart. During this 15 seconds, pedestrians must cross the street. Congested localities like Tankbund, Mehidipatnam, Jubilee Hills, Secunderabad, Panjagutta, Abids, Tankbund, Himayatnagar, Begumpet, etc. have these signals erected. On the tank bund, these signals were put in at two different locations.
