If you are an astronomy enthusiast residing in Hyderabad, you may be eagerly anticipating the first solar eclipse of 2023. You may also be wondering whether or not the eclipse will be visible from your location.

Based on information from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the first solar eclipse of 2023 will occur on April 20, 2023. The eclipse will be visible from various locations, including South East Asia, East Indies, Australia, the Philippines, New Zealand, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea. Unfortunately, Hyderabad is not one of the places where the eclipse will be visible.

However, the upcoming solar eclipse will be a hybrid solar eclipse. This means that some areas will experience a total solar eclipse, while others will witness an annular eclipse. Therefore, if you live close to any of the locations where the eclipse will be visible, you can witness this stunning celestial event.

Last year, Hyderabad experienced a partial solar eclipse on October 25, 2022. Many astronomy enthusiasts gathered at the Birla Planetarium in Hyderabad to witness this amazing event. The planetarium projected an image of the partial solar eclipse onto a screen using a telescope. Additionally, those who wanted to view the eclipse directly could use a telescope with solar filters.

Aside from the partial solar eclipse, Hyderabad also recently witnessed a partial lunar eclipse.

Both lunar and solar eclipses occur due to the rotation of the Earth around the Sun and the Moon around the Earth. Because of this rotation, there are times when the Sun, Moon, and Earth align in a straight line. This alignment causes either the Sun or Moon to become invisible from Earth.

During a solar eclipse, the Sun becomes invisible as its rays are blocked by the Moon. Conversely, during a lunar eclipse, Sun rays are blocked by the Earth and do not reach the Moon.
