In Hyderabad, many people are frustrated and confused about getting new ration cards. The government had announced that new ration cards would be issued from March 1, and many residents have been eagerly waiting. However, there is still no clear information about the process.

Officials were asked to check who is eligible for the ration cards. In some villages, lists of selected people have been announced. However, in areas under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), there is still no clarity. Recently, officials received 83,000 applications, but after checking, only 70% of them were found eligible.

To address the confusion, the government decided to hold community meetings, called ward sabhas, to identify eligible people. However, these meetings have not been very effective, as there has been little participation from government officials.

Residents are growing more concerned as there has been no progress, even though a public grievance program called Praja Vani was held over a year ago. Many are frustrated and wondering when they will finally receive their much-needed ration cards.
