India and Kazakhstan are strengthening their bilateral relationship by increasing people-to-people contacts. This will be made possible through the launch of direct flight services between Almaty and Hyderabad. The Ambassador of Kazakhstan, Nurlan Zhalgasbayev, spoke about the economic opportunities in Kazakhstan for Indian businesses, particularly in sectors like hydrocarbons and critical minerals.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has announced plans for economic reforms in Kazakhstan, aiming to establish the country as a major transit hub in Eurasia. This includes focusing on key routes such as the Trans-Caspian and International North-South Corridor. The President emphasized the importance of a new economic model that improves citizens’ lives, with a focus on the manufacturing sector and support for small and medium enterprises.
The Ambassador also mentioned the expansion of the services provided by Honorary Consul Dr. Nawab Mir Nasir Ali Khan. Previously serving Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the services will now extend to other states like Odisha, Chattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh.
Dr. Ali Khan encouraged Hyderabad residents to visit Kazakhstan, as Indian nationals are now exempt from visa requirements for a 14-day stay. He also highlighted the enduring popularity of Indian films and culture in Kazakhstan, showing the connection between the two nations.
