Hyderabad Gets Ready for Ganesh Immersion with Added Security

Hyderabad is all set to say goodbye to Lord Ganesha on Tuesday with prayers for peace and prosperity for the year ahead. This year, the city will witness not just the Ganesh Shobha Yatra, but also two other major events. Both the Central Government and the State Government are celebrating Telangana Liberation Day on September 17. The Central Government will host its event at Parade Ground, while the State Government’s event will be at Public Gardens.

Because of these three significant events happening around the same time, the law enforcement agencies are under great pressure to ensure everything goes smoothly and peacefully. The grand farewell for the 70-feet tall Khairtabad Maha Ganesh will start at 9 AM. By 1 PM, the procession will reach NTR Marg, and the immersion will be completed by 2 PM. Various departments, including GHMC, HMWS&SB, HMDA, and others, have made the necessary arrangements for the event.

Another important procession is the Balapur Ganesh, which will cover 19 kilometers. This procession will pass through parts of the Old City and head towards Tank Bund. To maintain peace and order, especially in sensitive areas of the Old City, the police have set up security measures and imposed traffic restrictions in certain places.

The Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi mentioned that over 1.4 lakh Ganesh idols were installed across Hyderabad this year. Blue Colts and patrol teams are actively monitoring different neighborhoods to ensure the festivals go on without any trouble.

    Police Preparedness and Security Measures

Hyderabad Police Commissioner, C V Anand, emphasized that special attention is being given to gathering intelligence to prevent any issues like those that occurred last year. A strong traffic management plan is in place to ensure the smooth movement of the processions, especially at busy intersections like Basheerbagh and MJ Market.

To enhance security, anti-sabotage checks, social media monitoring, SHE Teams, drones, and camera-equipped vehicles will be actively used. These measures will help the police maintain control and address any potential issues quickly.

Chief Minister’s Review and Use of Technology

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy held a meeting to review the arrangements for Ganesh immersion at the Command Control Centre in Banjara Hills. During the meeting, Police Commissioner CV Anand and other senior officials informed the CM that 733 CCTV cameras are being used to monitor the entire immersion process across Greater Hyderabad.

The Chief Minister also directed the police to identify any blind spots and hotspots across the city and ensure that extra precautions are taken in these areas. He stressed the importance of ensuring the event proceeds peacefully and without any unnecessary delays.
